day 4, 5 and the naturopathic allergist
day 4 is done! and i’m half way through the final day of the big juice cleanse. it’s been amazing and I will DEFINITELY do it again!
we had a pretty busy sunday – Alameda Flea Market in the morning, a little shopping in the Marina, and Thai massages in the afternoon. I was better about drinking water in the sun, but I started late, and ended up with 3 bottles left to drink at 7pm. mad dash to the end of the night, but I made it.
day 5 has gone great! i’m still feeling fantastic – actually feeling very clear, very light, and i can see my face thinning. already planned my next cleanse in 4-6 months!
I had my first session with a naturopathic allergist – and was digitally screened for over 30 food/airborne items my body is sensitive to. the process is a muscle test, where the allergen is introduced through this armband and my body reacts to it – the reaction is measured and determined if there is a need to do further testing.
I had a reaction to 21 of 39 items. none or ALL of these could be contributing to my hives, but we are treating the items that triggered the strongest and contribute the most to skin issues.
SUGAR topped my list, and I underwent my initial treatment to desensitize my body to all of the sugars that I had been having an issue with. energy medians opened, sugar allergy cleared. now i wait and watch to see how i feel over the next few days. I could actually lose my sugar cravings or have them diminished. we’ll see. other things that were triggered:
corn, eggs, wheat/gluten, cats, dogs, dust, flowers, grasses, trees, weeds, blah, blah, blah.
having a reaction doesn’t mean i’m allergic and can never have these things or be around them – but that my body shows signs of agitation when these items are eaten or i’m around them. i have a few more appointments set up to have the next largest groups eliminated – hoping that this answers the 20yr old question of why I get hives!!
juice cleanses, clear flowing energy, and a convertible — i am a california girl!!

the big cleanse: day 3 done, day 4 begins
day 3 is in the bank and im starting day 4. the cleanse is going so much better than I expected. No hunger, although tv commercials of delicious food is killing me! Headache-ie yesterday, but I think that is because of all the driving we did in the sun and the lack of water.
the volume of liquid I’m taking in is insane, but I know it’s working because the number of bathroom trips is also insane!!
day 4 is ahead of me, and then only one day left.
off to drink breakfast – and then some flea market shopping!
cleanse – day 1, 2
so I’m half way through day 2 and doing GREAT!
the juice from pressedjuicery is amazing! 6 16 oz bottles of cold pressed veggies and fruit combinations and a weird green chlorophyl and apple water, plus a soothing aloe vera water for bed time. it’s A LOT of liquid, but i haven’t had one moment of hunger, no headaches, and no grouchies yet…
i set my iPhone every 2.5 hours to grab the next juice and i’m hydrating all day with water and herbal tea in between.
day 2 – things good, and the old bladder is getting a work out! 🙂

the bronx – not just a city in NY
he’s 7.6kg (do the math), smashed face, hoover vacuum cleaner when it comes to eating, and snores like an old man. yep that’s bronx. almost a year old, and looking for employment to cover his latest expenses!
he is the happiest puppy, so friendly (people and other dogs), and has the best temperament. bad thing – he’s not a good listener. once he’s focused on something and has “locked on target” he’s gone. we are “those” doggy parents at the park who are yelling at the top of their lungs BRONX COME! and he’s the one so happy to see a new dog, a little kid (whose deathly afraid of his rambunctious energy), or people who will pet and laugh at his lilo and stitch ears as he runs through their legs.
he is loved. he is funny looking which makes him cute, and he is not cheap! 2 emergency trips to the vet this week…I’m done, until the next time. binx – we love your snorty big head, and you can stay as long as your cute.
life is good…
the ‘change’ post has stirred some concern – no need friends. life is good, but growing hurts sometimes. i remember waking up in the middle of the night with leg cramps when i was 10-11 yrs old. i didn’t make 5’9 without a little pain, and i’m sure that’s all this is – adjustment and a little growing pain. 🙂 xoxo – nat
new home…
finally, we are setting up our new place in san francisco. Â its small, cute, modern and we think it will fit us perfectly. Â it’s going to be a bit of a work in progress – but we want to get it together as soon as possible so that we’re able to enjoy it and the city. Â it’s only a 12 month lease so we don’t want to spend 6 months figuring it out, and then have 6 months to relax in it if that makes sense.
so we are in the Lower Nob/Lower Pac Heights neighborhood called “Polk Gulch“. Â it really is a little gulch or valley at the bottom of two amazing
neighborhoods filled with beautiful old mansions.  there is some construction on the California Streetcar line right in front of our building – but it appears to be finished in our neighborhood, and the tracks are blocked off while the rest of the line is being upgraded. once it’s complete, we’ll have the streetcar as an easy way to get to Union Square/Ferry Building and downtown steps from our front door.

i’d definitely say we have a modern building (built in 2005), and not one of the traditional SF flats we had been hoping for. no worries though, there will be time to get into a flat, and i’m not disappointed with the amenities this condo has for us.  the roof-top deck will be well used!!
we spent a good part of saturday receiving our household items from the movers. Â the truck looked half full and we really anticipated a few hours and we’d be done. Â LOL – funny us! Â it took about 4 hours, with 2 great guys
unloading, and bringing up boxes
asking me where to place them. ‘mr’ took the taxing job of checking off the box numbers as they came off the truck – he did this while meeting and greeting
almost everyone on the sidewalk as they passed. Â i think he and the movers entertained each other and our new neighborhood – and made the whole process a lot fun. Â i took the “super easy” job of unpacking the kitchen boxes, and figuring out where everything would go. [i should have chosen the moving box bingo job!] the number of kitchen boxes that were stacked up seemed never ending – i think i opened 8-4ft boxes (some with smaller box surprises inside), and 8-10 small boxes before the kitchen was complete. Â all i keep saying is – “we have a lot of stuff!!” Â our issaquah kitchen was 3-4 times larger than this one, but i managed to get everything creatively put away.
the rest of the place is still filled with boxes – everyday we do a little more, but with sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 70’s its hard to stay in and unpack.

a goal always helps – and with our first guests coming in a few weeks we’ll buckle down and get it done.
next post – our new neighborhood…
